Why Ikebukuro for Pokemon Cards?
Ikebukuro (池袋) is Tokyo's second-largest otaku district after Akihabara, centered around the massive Sunshine City complex and the streets radiating from Ikebukuro Station's east exit. The area has seen rapid growth in card shops, with many major chains opening locations to serve the area's large concentration of anime and gaming fans.
While Akihabara remains the king of card shopping, Ikebukuro offers a less crowded alternative with excellent inventory. The area around Otome Road and Sunshine 60-dori is packed with hobby shops, and several dedicated card stores offer competitive singles pricing. Ikebukuro Station is one of Tokyo's busiest, making it easy to reach from anywhere in the city.
